Martial Art Background: 4th Kyu Kendo

He is not your typical Malay, and neither is he your typical geek. He loves almost everything Japanese, and puts together computers as a hobby. Faiz certainly doesn’t mind fixing your virus and spyware problems either! A PC gamer at heart, he plays on a regular basis and believes himself highly invincible on most First Person Shooter games. But what separates him from the typical geeks would be his highly social and extroverted nature.

He has a great interest in various Martial Arts, especially those involving swords of various kinds. Faiz himself, has been practicing Kendo for a number of years, and has even picked up Fencing recently. A fan of Kung Fu and similar fighting, medieval, and fantasy movies, he dreams of one day leading a team of Stunt Coordinators and working on future Hollywood blockbusters for the most epic fight scenes ever.

Mike Tupaz

Co-2nd in-command, Choreographer

Martial Art Background: Fencing, Tae Kwon Do, Capoeira

Mike joined SEJA early on, when the lightsaber workshop had just started. A left-hander, he proved to be a natural at dual-wielding, something very few people are well versed in. His experience in Fencing proved valuable in adding variety to SEJA’s largely Japanese-influenced sequences, at the same time, schooling Faiz and Azmi in the basics of Epee and Taekwondo.

Mike is also an aspiring sketch artist and fashion designer.

Yazid Jalil

Asst Choreographer

Performance Background: Stage actor

Yazid belongs onstage, be it acting in a theatre, or sword fighting in an open arena. His theatre training has proven useful in adding emotion to the group’s choreography, and no one else in SEJA can beat Yazid’s passion for learning, non-stop enthusiasm and realistic acting.

Besides the stage, Yazid also shares a passion for screen acting for television and short films.

Annas Mahmud

Asst Choreographer, Treasurer

Martial Art Background: Silat

Though armed only with the very basics of Silat, Annas has a very keen eye for details. It’s something which has been taken advantage of time and again to improve SEJA’s performances by keeping them down-to-earth. Annas joined SEJA with an interest in learning the art of basic swordfighting, hoping to hone his reflexes and improve his martial flexibility.

He is also the current treasurer of SEJA.
